Medication:  Help has arrived

One of the biggest struggles and concerns for people with  bipolar disorder and depression is to find a way to consistently get the medication which for many is the key to life and welfare.  Many have no insurance or not enough insurance and have to make decisions about food and meds or worse.  Meds normally lose.  Many face the upcoming loss of TennCare and are facing what for some is a life or death situation.  For all of you are think there are no answer help has arrived.

Linda and I have become involved with something called the Partnership for Prescription Assistance.  Since 2005 when it first started over 4 million Americans have gotten help.  They have programs that pay for all or part of most medications.  They have over 2500 medications covered by over 450 programs.  They may be able to help you.  Even if you still have insurance, but can’t afford the costs of co-pays or have meds that are uncovered they can help.  It doesn’t hurt to find out.

The procedure is simple:

  1. Either call 1 888- 477 -2669 or go online to www.pparx.org.   The operator on the phone will ask you a series of about 10 questions about your current situation.  He will want to know medications, how many are in your house, financial situation and if you have insurance coverage. Online you will have to answer the same questions.

  2. Within 5-10 minutes you will have a list of programs that can help you with each medication.  There will be a different program possibly each medication.  The operator will mail you the applications or you can down-load the forms.

  3. Fill out the forms as quick as possible.  For those programs that supply free medications you may have to have a doctor sign off.

  4. Assuming that all is done correctly you will get help in as soon as 2 weeks, but probably not more than 6.  Some of the programs last for 3 months, some for 6, some for a year.  At the end of that time you will have to re-apply.

THE ENTIRE PROGRAM IS FREE FOR YOU TO ACCESS.  THERE IS NO CHARGE TO RECEIVE HELP.

If you need more resources here are a couple of other websites to look at.
